ELECTROMAGNET BADGE
An electromagnet is made with an iron nail or an iron object. Some copper wire to make the coils around the iron nail/object, a battery or some electric source, you need steel paperclips/objects also you need red and black cables.
The differences between an electromagnet and a permanent magnet are. in an electromagnet the magnetic fields is created through electric current in a wire-wound coil and strengthened by a soft-iron core. As soon as you turn off the power, the soft-iron core loses its magnetism. The difference with a permanent magnet is a permanent magnet is made of ferromagnetic material, which is magnetised by a strong external magnetic field. The magnetically hard material that is used keeps part of its magnetisation after the external magnetic field is turned off.
An electromagnet is useful for the job when you are in a scrap yard and when it doesn’t automatically attract metal. it only works when you switch on the electricity. The magnet starts to work and then it will attract meta but when you turn off the electricity it repels all metals.

Hi Jack,
Thanks for submitting your work on here. I’d love it if you continued to do so.
I love the photos and I can see that you used research effectively. A quick check of your work shows where you found the answers though. You DID NOT COPY VERBATIM which is excellent but it IS close enough to warrant citing sources. You must add your sources in the comments below.
This Badge is not yet unlocked because:
You have not included a diagram of the domain model of magnetism
You have not included a circuit diagram for an electromagnet.
If you submit me hand drawn copies of this to you exercise book this achievement will be unlocked.
Good luck!
