In someways Brutus and Caesar are similar but on the other hand very different. Shakespeare is clever for making this play almost exactly the same as real life because in real life the majority of people talk about people behind their backs when there not with them but when they are with the person that they spoke about is with them they are completely different. this is why shakespeare is clever for doing this.
In my opinion Brutus and Caesar are similar because in the act one scene two (beware of the ides of march) Cassius talks about Caesar and Brutus as if they are a king for instance when he says “Fellow, come from the throng, look upon Caesar.” This means come forward so caesar can see you and then look up to him. Also Cassius says “Brutus and Caesar: what should be in that name to be sounded more than more than yours?” This is to say that Brutus is equal to Caesar all that is different is there names and Brutus should be respected more like Caesar. this is one of the reasons why Brutus and Caesar are similar.
Brutus and Caesar are similar because they are both noble. My evidence for Brutus and Caesar being noble is because even Cassius thinks that they are both noble when he says ” Brutus and Caesar: what should he be in that name to be sounded more than yours?” The reason why I feel like this quote means that they are both noble as well as him thinking they are treated like kings. in one of my opinions it means Caesar is the most noble person in Rome at the moment and Brutus is being compared to him and then Cassius says “What should he be in that name to be sounded more than yours.” Meaning you are like a king but people do not treat you like Caesar.
Another reason why Brutus and Caesar are similar. Is they both make mistakes like when Brutus did not want to kill Mark Antony not knowing Antony would turn the angry mob against them at the funeral of Caesar. The evidence of this is when brutus says “Our course will seem too bloody Caius, Cassius. To cut the head off and then hack the limbs-like wrath in death and envy afterwards for Antony is but a limb of Caesar.” Meaning it will be over the top to cut off his head and then hack the limbs off his dead body also he is saying Antony is nothing without Caesar. Caesar makes a big mistake by not listening to his wife Calpurnia when she says “Call it my fear that keeps you in the house, and not your own. We will send Mark Antony to the senate house, and he shall say you are not well today.(Kneels) Let me, upon my knee, prevail in this.” She is saying to Caesar do not go to the senate house otherwise something bad will happen to you so you should send Mark Antony to say your not well so you can not come therefore the bad thing can not happen to you. This is why Brutus and Ceasar are different.
One more opinion about brutus and Caesar is that they are both similar and both different. In this paragraph they are both different. One reason why they are both different is Caesar would never kill a good friend my evidence is when Caesar was getting devoured he said “Et tu, Brute? Then fall Caesar.” what caesar meant by this is I knew i was going to die one day but I would never expect it to be you that killed me then he dies. People will disagree with me by saying that I have no evidence for the side that Caesar would not kill a good friend but if he would why would he then fall after seeing Brutus join in also he was still standing while still being struck.
Another difference between Brutus and Ceasar is that Brutus calls his servant by his name in stead of calling him servant. My evidence on the half of Brutus’s side is in act 4 scene 3 he says “Lucillius and Titinius, bid the commanders. Prepare to lodge their companies tonight.” he says this to his servant (Lucius) and Titinius (a friend) but when Caesar talks to his servant he just says something like “What say the augurers?.” Then the servant would just reply. This is why Brutus and Caesar are different.
In the state meant contrast and compare Brutus and Caesar are they similar or are they different. I am on both sides of this statement but at the start I was only on one side which was that they are similar but when I got about three quarters into this essay I found a couple of reasons why they are similar. I am on both sides of the argument but I think they are more similar.
